Bag Philosophy Part I Tuesday, July 19, 2011 @ 5:05 PMFor those who know me really well, you’ll know that I’m a ‘bag’ person. I am ok with wearing 3 for $10 clothes and less than $10 shoes (even if it’s uncomfortable) but I can’t bring cheap bags or fake bags out. I was discussing this issue with Jinghui who reprimanded me on buying a few hundred bags and still think that it’s cheap as she thinks that it’s not a necessity to spend so much on a branded bag when a normal bag will do just fine. However, I beg to differ. I will call this as ‘investment’. Different people have different preference of spending money. I.e. Some people is very particular about technology whereby they’ll go and queue and spend lots of money on new gadgets, while others will spend more money on clothes and shoes. It’s like how I think that spending 1K on an iphone is expensive while others think that spending 1K on a branded bag is expensive. To me, buying branded bag is an investment. I believe in yi fen qian yi fen huo. I think that as long as you pay more, the product will never disappoint you. Although sometimes it might not be the case (like NUM, which doesn’t last despite the price), this theory still holds most of the time!!! Also, it is a long time investment as you can use the bag for like 10 years and 20 years and it still doesn’t break, better still, some brands even comes with life time guarantee (ie, LV) which you can send it back for repair if it breaks). Unlike those cheapo bags, they break easily and the metal becomes rusty easily too. I also believe in quality instead of quantity. You’ll think that it’s better to buy more cheap bags so that you can change as and when you like as compared to a boring expensive bag that you will carry everywhere you go. BUT if you choose a nice bag which can match with any outfit, you can also carry the bag well. It all depends on how you match your outfit right. Even if you have hundred of bags but you can’t match it well it’ll have the same effect what. That’s why I rather not buy the bag if there colour and design that I like is not available(my ge kiang mom always like to buy things on my behalf which ended up having to change another piece or wasting them as I’ll never wear it - There was once when she bought a coach bag for me but the colour is not to my liking, I rejected it even though it’s already being paid for) Well, I’m a Virgo, so I’m very particular and stubborn on some things.  Anyway, the purpose of my post is to introduce the must-have bags that every woman should have in their lifetime. But apparently I digressed into how I’m very particular about branded bags. Haha. Ok. I shall do another post on it next time. |
